Miranda Klassen, Executive Director (and Founder) of the Amniotic Fluid Embolism Foundation, was recently appointed to the Executive Committee for California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative (CMQCC ). CMQCC is devoted to eliminating preventable maternal death and injury and promoting equitable maternity care in California by bringing resources, tools, measures, and quality improvement techniques to providers, administrators, and public health leaders. This is a long term collaborative effort of many organizations and individuals with sponsorship of the California Department of Public Health (Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Program), the California Perinatal Quality Care Collaborative (CPQCC), California HealthCare Foundation (CHCF) and the Centers for Disease Control. This collaboration includes over 250 clinicians, public health leaders, key payors and public representatives all devoted to improving childbirth outcomes.
Christine Morton, CMQCC’s Program Manager who nominated Miranda says, “Miranda’s appointment will extend the representation of childbearing women on the CMQCC Executive Committee to include someone who is intimately familiar with the experience of severe maternal morbidity but who also has demonstrated an ability to recognize and meet the challenges and needs in supporting others (including clinicians) in this area. Miranda’s perspectives and experience are highly aligned with CMQCC’s emphasis on quality improvement; her advocacy and efforts will be an asset to CMQCC.”
